When You Can't Stop Worrying: Simple Ways to Refocus and Rise Above It
We all worry - it's part of being human. But sometimes, it can take over. The mind races, jumping from one "what if" to the next, and suddenly you feel anxious, distracted and completely drained. You know worrying doesn't change anything... but switching it off isn't always that simple.
The truth is, worry and fear sit at the lower end of the energetic scale. They're heave, sticky emotions that can trap us in a loop. The good news is: there is gentle, empowering ways to shift out of that space - mentally, emotionally and energetically.

Refocus the Mind: The First Step Back to Clarify
When the mind is stuck in worry, it needs somewhere to land. A helpful first step is to write everything down - every fear, every concern, no matter how small.
The simple act gives your thoughts a "place". Instead of swimming around in your head, they're now on paper where you can see them clearly.
Once you've done that, ask yourself:
- What's within my control right now?
- What can I let go of, just for today?
Even identifying one action - however small - starts the process of refocusing your energy from worry to empowerment
Energetic Support: Raising Your Vibration
Worry doesn't just affect the mind - it pulls your energy down. To shift out of that frequency, try tuning into higher vibrational tools that naturally support calm and clarity:
- Solfeggio Frequencies
These healing sound frequencies can gently recalibrate your energy. Try 528 Hz (love frequency) or 396 Hz (liberation from fear and guilt). Even 10 minutes can make a difference.
- Vibrational music or sound baths
Let the tones wash over you and clear your energetic field.
- Crystals
Carrying grounding and calming crystals in your pocket (like lepidolite, amethyst or blue lace agate) can offer subtle but powerful support throughout your day.
These are not just "nice ideas", they work because your body, mind and spirit respond to energy.
Breathe Back Into Balance
When you're stuck in worry, the breath becomes shallow or erratic. Conscious breathing brings you back to the present and soothes the nervous system.
Try this gentle practice:
- Inhale deeply through the nose for 4 counts
- Hold for 2
- Exhale slowly through the mouth for 6
- Repeat 4-5 times, with one hand over your heart
You'll notice your body begin to settle, and with that, the mind softens too.
Create an Energetic "Worry Window"
If your thoughts keep circling, give yourself permission to worry intentionally. Choose a 10 minute window each day to let it all our by getting it out of your head and onto paper.
Outside of that time, tell your mind "I'll come back to this later". It's surprisingly effective, and over time, your mind learns to release the grip.
Return to the Present Through the Senses
When worry pulls you into the future, bring yourself back to now with a sensory grounding exercise:
- What can I see?
- What can I hear?
- What can I touch?
- What can I smell?
- What can I taste?
Pair this with a grounding crystal or a few drops of essential oil like lavender or frankincense and you'll feel your nervous system slowly start to regulate.
Closing Thought
You don't have to fight your worry - but you can shift it. You can rise above its frequency, gently and consciously, with a pen in your hand, a breath in your lungs and your feet grounded in the now. And of course, getting bare-footed in the garden can be the most beneficial "grounding tool"!
Worry may visit, but it doesn't have to stay. You hold the tools to refocus, recharge and return to peace - one moment, one breath, one vibration at a time.
A Gentle Note to End On
And remember, you are not alone. We all experience times/moments of overwhelm, and our thoughts and feelings are often more alike than we realise.
If this resonated with you, or you know someone who might benefit from it, please feel free to share it.
And if you'd like support to explore what's beneath the surface, gain clarity and move forward in a new direction with more ease, understanding and perspective. I'm here to support you when you're ready.
