Blowing Up the Balloon

I love analogies!  When I am trying to explain or promote a particular way of perspective, I just love using analogies.

They are fun - keep things "light" and are to-the-point.

Energetically speaking, when you are thinking and talking about something which has upset you in some way, or you are thinking/worrying too much about a particular situation which needs to be resolved, I always say “STOP BLOWING UP THE BALLOON!”

The more energy you put into a situation, whether it be thought or speech – you are figuratively making the situation bigger! Just like blowing up a balloon. The more energy (air) you blow into the balloon, the bigger it gets.

This is a great reminder of how we can “control” and “help ourselves” to refrain from making a particular situation worse. A great reminder to use the energy we have to put to better use.

Rather than “imagining outcomes” or “thinking the worst”, see this as an opportunity to put your energy into the outcome you wish to “happen/create!”

A Gentle Note to End On

And remember, you are not alone. We all experience times/moments of overwhelm, and our thoughts and feelings are often more alike than we realise.

If this resonated with you, or you know someone who might benefit from it, please feel free to share it.

And if you'd like support to explore what's beneath the surface, gain clarity and move forward in a new direction with more ease, understanding and perspective. I'm here to support you when you're ready.

THE FEELING NO ONE TALKS ABOUT Loneliness is something we all experience at some point - but it’s not something many of us feel comfortable talking about. It can linger in the background for so many people, no matter their age or circumstance. Over the years, I’ve come to realise how deeply we need to feel connected - to be seen, heard, and accepted for who we are. To feel like we belong. That we have a tribe. A community. People we can show up to as our full selves, without masks or pretence. This can be especially true for men.

As a holistic counsellor, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful language can be. The words we use don’t just describe our world - they create it. When we constantly tell ourselves we're worried, anxious, or not good enough, our brain starts to believe it, and our body follows suit. But when we change the way we speak to ourselves, we can shift our energy and our mindset toward a more positive, empowered space. It’s a small change in perspective that can make a big difference in our overall well-being.
